Tru Schilling is the 19-year-old daughter of Tiffany and Jeremy Schilling of Valmeyer. She is a 2022 graduate of Valmeyer High School. This fall she will be a Sophomore at Maryville University, majoring in biology on the Pre-Med track, with a minor in sign language. Tru hopes to become a pediatric surgeon. She is currently employed as a Customer Service Specialist at Rural King. Tru enjoys going to the gym, hanging out with friends, working in her garden, fishing, shopping, and watching scary movies. She is a member of Maryville’s Knots of Love, where they make tie blankets to donate to various hospitals and people in need. She has also been involved in collecting and donating clothes for those in need and helping to run food drives.

Amelia Wierschem is the 18-year-old daughter of Bobbie Jo and Mary Wierschem of Waterloo. She is a 2022 graduate of Belleville East High School. This fall she will be a Sophomore at SWIC where she is working to get her Associates with hopes to transfer to SIUE to pursue an early education teaching degree. Amelia cannot wait to assist our younger generation on their path through life! She is currently employed as a Customer Service Specialist at Rural King. Amelia enjoys assisting her grandpa on the farm, reading, going for walks in the woods, fishing, deer and turkey hunting when in season, a passion for photography, driving the combine and loader tractor, and spending time in any classroom. She has taken classes in wedding, graduation, family portrait, headshots, and scenery photos with the dream of creating her own photography business. Chelsea Nehls is the 19-year-old daughter of Fred and Melissa Nehls of Columbia. She is a 2022 graduate of Belleville Township High School West. This fall she will be a Senior at SIUE pursuing a Bachelors of Accounting, graduating in Spring 2024. Upon graduation, she plans to further pursue her Masters degree. She attended SWIC during high school to complete an Associates in Arts. She is currently employed as an Intern at Kerber, Eck, & Braeckel. Chelsea enjoys CrossFit, camping, dancing, spending time with family, and walking her dog. She is the Chapter President of the SIUE Entrepreneurs’ Club.

Emma Wittenauer is the 18-year-old daughter of Jenny and Michael WIttenauer of Waterloo. She is a 2023 graduate of Waterloo High School. This fall she will be a Freshman at Webster University majoring in Vocal Performance with a minor in Entrepreneurship. She is currently employed at Scooter’s Coffee. Emma enjoys acting, singing, painting, writing poetry, and playing the trombone and guitar. She is a member of National Honor Society, Renaissance, and National Speech and Debate Association. She is a former Drum Major and Section Leader of the Waterloo Marching Bulldogs, Section Leader of the Waterloo Choir, and Captain of the Waterloo Drama Club and Speech Team. Emma’s special honors include National Speech and Debate Association Academic All-America, 3x National Speech Qualifier, 2x Illinois State Speech Finalist, and a member of the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Choir, which is the top 1% of all high school singers in the state.

Erica Runge is the 18-year-old daughter of Craig and Christine Runge of Fults. She is a 2023 graduate of Waterloo High School. This fall she will be a Freshman at SWIC to pursue an associate degree with plans to transfer to a 4-year University. She is currently undecided on a major. She is currently employed as a CarSide To-Go Runner at Applebee’s Grill and Bar. Erica enjoys hiking, shopping, trying new Sonic drink combinations, dressing like the Queen Dolly herself, and taking spontaneous day trips to explore new places. She is involved in Best Buddies, Colorguard, Orange Crush, Renaissance, and FFA. Erica’s special honors include National Honor Society and the 2022 Waterloo Marching Bulldogs Most Outstanding Senior.

Jada Jean Voelker is the 18-year-old daughter of Don and Jean Voelker of Waterloo. She is a 2023 graduate of Waterloo High School. This fall she will be a Freshman at Maryville University of Saint Louis where she will be studying for 6.5 years in their Freshman Direct Entry Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program. She is currently employed over the summer at her sister’s small business Spare Thyme Farms. Jada enjoys playing softball for school and travel ball, helping softball summer camps, hunting, traveling, weightlifting, participating in FFA events, and spending time with family and friends. She is involved in Waterloo FFA Chapter where she served as the 2022-2023 Chapter Reporter, Waterloo High School Varsity Softball player since 2020 and is the 2023 Captain, National Honor Society since 2021, Orange Crush Pep Club since 2019, and Yearbook since 2019. She volunteers at the local VFW for the lent fish fry, donating dog necessities to Helping Strays, toy and food driver for the House of Neighborly Services, and much more. Jada’s special honors include High Honor Roll 2016-2023, WHS 4.0+ GPA Club 2020-2023, Greenhand and Chapter FFA degree 2020 and 2021, The Sophia and Elmer Oerter Award for being in the top 15% of her class 2023, 1st Team All Conference WHS Varsity Softball in 2022, and All Mississippi Valley Conference Academic Team in 2022.

  • Mila Acock, sponsored by The Brooke Mitchell Real Estate Team. Mila is the 8-year-old daughter of Seth and Anna Acock of Waterloo. This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Rogers Elementary. She has a little brother Liam and a cat named Katie. Mila loves so many things - she loves to bake (and make her own creations), crafting and being creative, dancing whenever possible, reading and writing her own books, sports, bike riding, gardening, and learning new things - she truly loves a challenge. At school Mila received the S.O.A.R. Character Award for "caring," she competes every year in the VFW Illustrating America Art Contest, participated in the Young Authors Conference and won an award for her book entitled "Never Give Up." She loves her youth group and enjoys doing activities in the community with Life Community Church. Mila also takes gymnastics at Barron, dance at Stompin' Beatz, swims for the Waterloo Piranhas, plays indoor and outdoor soccer, as well as D19 softball for the Waterloo Sports Assoc. and 8U select softball for the Waterloo Thunder.

She has a sister Madison and brother Caden, a Yorkshire pig named Snowflake, Goats named Rusty, Cowgirl, Sully, and Granny Lou, a chicken named Heebee, a cat named Shadow, and a dog named Zeb. Lydia loves sunflowers, horses, swimming and making crafts, and working with her hogs and goats to show at the Monroe County Fair. She loves to spend time with her friends and family camping, fishing and swimming during the summer, and is looking forward to joining 4-H this fall with her brother.

Lilyan is the 7-year-old daughter of Justin and Jessica Miller, and Brad and Valerie Wetzler of Waterloo. This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Rogers Elementary. She has a sister Emily, brother Brantley, a baby brother coming in October, and 2 cats named Leroy and Luigi. Lilyan enjoys reading chapter books, arts and crafts, swimming and spending time with family and friends. She is involved in Fury Softball and Waterloo Jr. Bulldog Cheerleader and Volleyball.
  • Elizabeth Renee Murphy, sponsored by T & T Brokerage. Elizabeth is the 8-year-old daughter of Matthew and Lori Murphy of Waterloo. This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Rogers Elementary. She has a brother Benjamin and a cat named Indy. Elizabeth enjoys art, fairy gardening, and reading. She is involved in Maeystown Clovers 4-H Cloverbuds and St Paul UCC SPLASH.
  • Calianna Greene, sponsored by Stompin Beatz Professional Dance Company. Calianna is the 8-year-old daughter of Jeremy and Daniela Greene of Columbia. This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Parkview Elementary. She has a sister Gabriella and a dog named Gus. Calianna enjoys dancing, gymnastics, and spending time with family and cousins. She has been dancing since age 3 at Stompin Beatz; this is her 2nd year into competition dance – she absolutely loves dancing and dances everywhere she goes. She is involved in recreational gymnastic, cheer during the summer, and enjoys making things for folks in the nursing home while she visits her great-grandpa.

This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Parkview Elementary. She has a dog named Yadi and 2 fish. Brooklyn enjoys soccer, basketball, gymnastics, tennis, horseback riding, and reading. She is involved in Steamers soccer club, Barron gymnastics, Eagle basketball, Kiwanis Terrific Kids club, and Young Authors Contest.
  • Ava Helms, sponsored by JR Photography and Rippling Waters Counseling PLLC. Ava is the 7-year-old daughter of JD and Lynn Helms of Waterloo. This fall she will be in 2nd Grade at Rogers Elementary. She has a brother AJ, dog named Zena, indoor cats names Serena and Oreo, and a bunch of outside cats. Ava enjoys painting, camping, and singing. She is involved in gymnastics at Power Haus Cheer and softball at Waterloo Sports Association.

This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Parkview Elementary. She has a 2 brothers Wyatt and Jacob. Alaina enjoys dance, gymnastics, playing outside with her brothers, soccer, softball, art, singing, and reading. She is involved in soccer, softball, dance, Helping Strays reading program, Bible school, and Camp Wartburg.
  • Nora Zellerman, sponsored by Power Haus Cheer. Nora is the 8-year-old daughter of David and Kelly Zellerman of Waterloo. This fall she will be in 3rd Grade at Rogers Elementary. She has a sister Stella and 4 dogs named Duke, Margot, Finley, and Koda. Nora enjoys art and wood working along with getting messy in the process! She loves baking, especially homemade chocolate chip cookies, she spends a lot of time doing cheer and gymnastics, and she enjoys playing with her friends, playing Fortnite, and reading. She is involved in Waterloo Sports Association as a cheerleader for the Bulldogs, gymnastics Tumble Team with Power Haus Cheer, plans to play soccer this fall, and takes pride in reading her Bible and preparing for her first baptism.
  • Maisy Schaefer, sponsored by Schaefer Trucking Inc. Maisy is the 8-year-old daughter of Matthew and Heather Schaefer of Columbia. This fall she will be in 4th Grade at Parkview Elementary. She has a brother Mason and a border collie dog Maddie. Maisy loves to go shopping, spending time with family and friends, and also wither dog Maddie. She loves to jump on her trampoline, likes to go to the farm and firehouse with her dad, and enjoys swimming and spending as much time outdoors as she can. She is involved in playing for Crew Soccer, competitive gymnastic, and playing softball for Columbia Athletic Association.
