Open Swine Market Animal Rules and Regulations
1. Swine Market Animals Exhibited in the Open Show will be split into respected classes after they are weighed. When filling out entry, use the premium number for the heavy weight classes in the respective divisions (Commercial and/or XBred). *You can enter up to 6 barrows and 6 gilts in each division (commercial and X-Bred), all 6 should be entered in the respective heavy weight classes.

2. Only two Swine Market Animals can be exhibited under each weight bracket. Classes will be divided with this in mind, though if class breaks result in exhibitor having 3 within the same class, he or she will have to decide which 2 will be shown.

3. Swine Market Class Breaks will be done by open show Superintendents.  Class breaks are final.

DEPARTMENT G --- SWINE PREMIER SHOW, July 23, 2008

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Monroe County Fairgrounds

Rules and Regulations:

1) Animals must be born on or after February 10, 2008 and no later than March 1, 2008.
2) Barrows must be castrated prior to tattooing.
3) All pigs must be tattooed, ear notched, and weighed before they are 35 days of age. Pigs may not weigh over the equivalent of 1.0 pound per day of age. Pigs must be tattooed and weighed by April 15, 2008.
4) Contact the Monroe County Extension Service (939-3434) to set up a time for tattooing. A scale for weighing will be provided by extension.
5) Barrows and Gilts must weigh a minimum of 240 pounds on the day of the show. There will NOT be an upper weight Limit.
6) All breeds are eligible including purebred, crossbred, and commercial.
7) Each family, farm, or firm in the Open Class Swine Premier Show can nominate (tattoo) 10 barrows and 10 gilts. If a junior is included in a family, farm or firm and that junior plans to exhibit hogs in the "Junior On Foot Carcass Show", a maximum of 6 hogs can be nominated per Junior. Junior hogs can not exhibit in the open show.
8) Each family, farm, or firm exhibiting in the Open Class Swine Premier Show may enter 2 barrows and 2 gilts in the show.
9) All animals must be on the grounds by 10:00 P.M. July 21, 2008 and must remain there until 9:30 on Thursday, July 24, 2008.
10) Barrows and Gilts in the premier show cannot be used in the open or junior show.
11) The judge reserves the right to disqualify for a A: Soundness, B: Late Castration; C: Abscesses.
12) Open to Monroe County Producers Only.
13) The show committee will interpret all regulations and rules on any questions not covered above.
14) The Monroe County Fair Association is not responsible for accidents to animals, humans, vehicles, etc.
